Tomorrow I Practice Retirement....

Our church senior adult group is going to Ponca City, OK & tour the Marland Mansion.

I am driving our van since the 15 passenger van is full. Of course I am wwaayyy too young to be an actual member of this group. Even if my hair is silver.

Mr. Marland made his money in oil in 1911. He was a Yankee from Pennsylvania.

Here's a virtual tour....

My fav :
Imported Limewood walls

Wonder where limewood is imported from ?

Always wanted one of these :

porte cochere

Even though I can't pronounce it .... it's French for coach porch ...

phonetically sounds like : port co share...

We will also tour this ?
The Pioneer Woman Statue

We've driven by this many times :

Marland's First Mansion

E.W. and Virginia Marland built a lovely house at Tenth and Grand, near the
downtown area. That house had 22 rooms,
but what it became known for was the
eight acres of formal, terraced gardens. It was acclaimed to be the most
beautiful collection of shrubs, flowers, and foliage this side of the Mississippi.

This home is a few blocks from downtown Ponca. The grounds were built upon to make downtown & various neighborhood blocks.
